 "Every minute, a woman dies of complications related to
pregnancy and childbirth"
With an estimated 385,000 women dying annually in childbirth , many from infections acquired during childbirth, there is a great need for our clean birthing kits.
Click HERE to see how we achieved 8,000 kits in 2011.
Worldwide, the birthing kit project has assisted the survival rate by more than 25%.
Most women we assist for reasons of isolation, cultural choice or poor transport have little or no assistance during childbirth. Many mothers and babies die from preventable infections. By providing a clean birthing kit and training in how to use it, these mothers will have the resources to reduce infection.
ZONTA BIRTHING KITS provide for a clean birth that may decrease the risk of death from infection and bleeding.

What’s in a Zonta Birthing Kit?
The kit includes:
1m x 1m plastic sheet for the mother to
lie on
a piece of soap
2 gloves
5 gauze squares
3 string
sterile scalpel blade
ALL CONTAINED IN A SMALL PRESS

What we Achieved Last Year
Assembled 8,000 birthing kits.
Our Aim this Year
Assemble 10,000 birthing kits.
We want 250 volunteers.
